About This Session:

Trans. Non-binary. Queer. Pronouns. Top Surgery. Name Changes. For many of us, it's a whole new language. and for others: this is a long-standing experience of being who they are, to the fullest extent.

In this Listening Session, Alex and Iso Mora will share their journey and demystify the transgender experience. From the glossary of new words to add to your vocabulary to "The Genderbread Person" that will explain some things you've been too embarrassed to ask, this one's for you if you've got questions you want answered.

S'more context, taken from Affirming Identity 101: Most people you know (and today in general, most people) identify as male or as female. In other words, they find belonging within the gender they've been assigned. For some though, gender identity changes over time. And for others, the gender binary doesn't fit at all.

Though their identity may be new(er) to your consciousness and experience, trans and non-binary people are nothing new.

The trans/non binary identity is constantly being threatened. Non-binary people in many states and beyond face prejudice, job discrimination, and healthcare discrimination. That’s why Iso and Alex Mora (Campower Ranger) founded Legalize They as an awareness movement and collective effort to educate the public and influence policy for non-binary, gender non-conforming folks. Their social impact brand is a product line (of awesome merch) that doubles as a platform for education, belonging and better allyship.

With Iso and Alex, we'll, together, talk through the implications of an experience that doesn't neatly fit into the categories of "man" or “woman,” one of a person who doesn't identify with any gender, or whose identity is expansive, with elements of the genders you've become accustomed to.

Be ready to collect valuable insight on how we can do better, to affirm one another and truly show the world what it means to make space for everyone to matter and belong, exactly as they are.
